Originally emailed to our Haskell family from the HINU Fellowship site, I wrote this message in response to the February 14 layoffs at Haskell Indian Nations University. Since then, we’ve witnessed an inspiring outpouring of support. Donations have enabled the Haskell Foundation to extend contracts, allowing many instructors to return on a temporary basis.  This resilience and unity highlight the strength of our community as we navigate these challenges together.

Today, our hearts are heavy as we stand in support of the faculty, staff, and students affected by the recent layoffs at Haskell Indian Nations University. These are not just jobs lost—they are mentors, role models, and community members who have poured into the lives of students and helped shape the future of Native education.

We also recognize that several campus events, including the 3rd Annual Entrepreneurship Summit and the Haskell Welcome Back Powwow, have been canceled or postponed, adding to the sense of loss and disruption in our community.

At HINU Fellowship, we remain committed to walking alongside the Haskell community during this difficult time, offering prayer, support, and fellowship. If you are struggling, need someone to talk to, or simply want to connect, please reach out. You are not alone—we are here for you.

We are also grateful to the Haskell Greenhouse for providing Eastern red cedar bundles to the HINU community, available at the front entrance of Tommaney Library. This offering serves as a reminder of healing, connection, and the strength we share as a people.

Please keep our Haskell family in your prayers as we navigate these challenges together. May Creator guide us and bring hope in the midst of uncertainty.

If you need anything or would like to reach out, you can reply to this email or contact us directly.

With you in solidarity,

HINU Fellowship
